Speakers

Andres Sutt

Andres Sutt is the Minister of Energy and Environment of the Republic of Estonia since March 2025. His areas of responsibility include climate and green economy, biodiversity and environmental protection, and energy and mineral resources. He has also been the Minister of Entrepreneurship and Information Technology of Estonia and a member of Parliament. Before that, he has worked in both the energy and financial sectors, for example in Eesti Energia, the European Financial Stability Facility, the International Monetary Fund and the Bank of Estonia.

Götz von Thadden

Götz von Thadden was appointed Head of the EIB Group Office for Estonia in April 2025. He has been with the European Investment Bank (EIB) for more than 20 years, including various assignments in the Baltic States. Previous positions include Head of Unit for financial instruments in the Baltic Sea and Northern Europe Department, and Principal Advisor at the European PPP Expertise Centre (EPEC). Götz is an economist by training and holds a PhD from the London School of Economics. 

Jaak Tuksam

Jaak Tuksam is Head of Business Development at Gren, an energy producer and supplier operating in the Baltic and Nordic countries and the UK. Jaak works with industrial leaders across the food & beverage, chemical, wood and biofuel sectors to solve one of their toughest challenges: how to meet energy needs while cutting emissions, stabilizing costs, and increasing resilience. At Gren, he focuses on providing green, reliable and affordable energy solutions ranging from sustainable district heating and cooling systems to innovative renewable and industrial energy. 

Karl Koort

Karl Koort is Development Manager and Member of the Management Board at Bioforce. Karl is a strong consulting professional with experience in business aviation and public-private partnerships, currently engaged in developing a renewable energy business. At Bioforce, he develops new biomethane production plants where biowaste, including animal by-products, is processed into environmentally friendly biomethane. The company also valorizes the carbon dioxide generated during biomethane production, which has so far been emitted into the atmosphere, into new products. 

Vijay Sirse

Vijay Sirse is a board member and investor in Destiny Energy Estonia OU, Parnu P2X Hub OU and SKYCORP Technologies in Estonia. He is an experienced entrepreneur in the energy sector, known for innovative and sustainable solutions over his 40+ year career. He is the Founder and CEO of Destiny Energy Singapore, specialising in renewable energy projects including green hydrogen, green ammonia, green methanol and eSAF in key markets like Estonia, Baltic and Nordic, Middle East, Egypt, India, Malaysia and South East Asia. His expertise covers policy advocacy, market strategy, business financial modelling, sustainable technology solutions, and project development in the clean energy field.

Jüri Ratas

Jüri Ratas is a Member of European Parliament from the European People’s Partyrepresenting the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy and the Delegation for relations with the United States. He previously served as the prime minister of Estonia from 2016 to 2021 and as the leader of the Estonian Centre Party from 2016 to 2023. He also acted as the vice-president of the Riigikogu from 2007 to 2016 and Mayor of Tallinn from 2005 to 2007. 

Raivo Melsas

Raivo Melsas is Adven’s Estonian Business Manager with extensive experience in the energy sector. His previous professional experience is in the fields of wind and hydropower and combined heat and power where he has been involved in the development of sustainable energy solutions with a long-term focus for several industries.  Adven provides energy solutions in the Nordic and Baltic countries that support the industry’s transition to cleaner, more efficient and sustainable energy. 

Teele Niidas

Teele Niidas is a deep-tech commercialisation leader with over a decade of experience bringing research-driven innovations to market. She is the COO of UP Catalyst, a climate technology company producing sustainable, battery-grade graphite and carbon nanotubes from captured CO₂, where she leads operations and business development. Previously, as CMO, she has shaped growth strategies for start-ups, university spin-offs, and public organisations. Teele is actively engaged in climate and industrial policy discussions, contributing to the advancement of regulatory frameworks for emerging technologies. She also serves as Chair of the Supervisory Board of the Estonian Cleantech Association.

Kurt Vandenberghe

Kurt Vandenberghe is Director-General of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Climate Action (DG CLIMA) since 2023. He has over 25 years of experience in EU policymaking, with a strong focus on climate, environment, research and innovation. Previously, he served as European Green Deal Adviser to Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and held several senior management positions within the European Commission. He holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from Johns Hopkins University.

Andreas Forfang

Andreas Forfang is the Vice President of Sustainability and Public Affairs in Vianode, a cleantech scaleup from Norway that produces clean and competitive battery anode materials from graphite. He joined Vianode in 2019 and has seen the company grow to more than 260 employees, constructing large-scale plants in Norway and Canada. Andreas has held several roles in Vianode and has a background from the financial sector.

Rasmus Magni Johannsen

Rasmus Magni Johannsen is Assistant Professor at the Department of Sustainability and Planning at Aalborg University, affiliated with the Sustainable Energy Planning research group. His research focuses on energy system modelling and the development of scenarios for 100% renewable energy systems. He works across local, national, and international contexts, addressing the integration of solutions and approaches such as district heating, energy communities, and industrial decarbonisation pathways. Through interdisciplinary methods, he explores how energy systems can be designed to meet climate goals while balancing technical, economic, and social considerations.

Magnus Andersson

Magnus Andersson is an Associate Director, Sustainability at the Nordic Investment Bank (NIB), based in Helsinki, Finland. One of his tasks is to further develop the financial markets standards for promoting green transition and opportunities for sustainable economic growth. Magnus has been working with sustainability issues full time for more than 30 years and for 20 years in the financial sector. He has had an active role in the development of sustainable financing, in the Nordics, EU, OECD and within the Multilateral Financial Sphere. He is frequently giving advice to commercial banks, as well as companies in NIB´s eight member countries. Previously he has had various sustainability positions in the financial, public, heavy industry and consultancy sector. He holds an Environmental Engineering Degree from the University of Gothenburg.
